LARAMIE — A partnership between Albany County School District No. 1 and Climb Wyoming will help local single mothers obtain CDLs, or commercial driver’s licenses, and potentially work as school bus drivers for the district.
Stuart Nelson, ACSD No. 1 director of state and federal programs, said the collaboration stemmed from discussions with Katie Hogarty, the program director at Climb Wyoming’s Laramie office.
“As we got to visiting with her about the different programs and what they were looking at, we got to talking about how we needed bus drivers,” Nelson said. “And then she said, ‘Well, we’d love to do a CDL class,’ and we kind of put the two and two together.”
